Welcome to The University of Akron!
We are glad you have accepted a position with us, and we welcome you to our team. Please review the valuable information and resources to assist you with finding your way at UA!
UAnet ID and UA e-mail
A UAnet ID is created for all employees upon hire to the University. The ID is printed on your Zip Card and provides access to your office computer, UA e-mail account, on campus internet access, and access to My Akron (https://uazips.sharepoint.com/).
When you receive your UA ID number, you may contact the IT Service Desk at 330-972-6888 or support@uakron.edu and have them create your initial password. After you have received this password, you can go to https://portal.office.com or https://uazips.sharepoint.com/ to complete your initial login. At this time you will be prompted to change your password and enroll in Microsoft Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).
Zip Card
The Zip Card is the official identification card for The University of Akron students, faculty and staff. It provides building access, as well as access to various University services and activities. The first Zip Card is free to students, faculty and staff.
The Zip Card Office is located in Simmons Hall 103. For office hours or other questions, call 330-972-5637, email zipcard@uakron.edu, or visit the website at http://www.uakron.edu/zipcard.

Parking permits are required to park on campus. You may apply for a parking permit only if you have a valid Employee ID and UAnet username and password. For additional information, please visit Parking Permits or contact the Parking and Transportation Services Department at 330-972-7213 or info@UAkronPark.com.

Mandatory Legal Compliance Seminars
The University of Akron strives to create a welcoming and safe environment for its students and employees, and we each have a role in achieving these important goals. To help you fully understand your role and comply with our Gender-Based Misconduct & Title IX Policy & Protocol, the University provides a 1-hour online training. The University also provides an online training regarding hazing to help you understand how to identify and report hazing activity. You will automatically be enrolled in this training the month after hire and instructions will be emailed to you on how to access the training. Should you have any questions on the training or if you wish to be enrolled sooner, please contact EEO at ext. 7300 or EEOCompliance@uakron.edu.
Campus Map
Access our About UA webpage for helpful tools including driving directions to campus, a campus map and virtual tour to help you "Find your way" at UA.
Each Fall, an in-person orientation is held for Full Time faculty that details important information, policies and acquaints our new faculty with the objectives and various resources available to faculty members of the University. The online orientation compliments the in-person events offered and all new faculty are highly encouraged to engage in both activities.
All new hires complete their onboarding process through Workday. This includes completing the I-9 form, payroll forms, and other necessary documentation.
