How Do I Join?

There is no one specific way to join a Fraternity; however, individuals are strongly advised to attend recruitment events at the beginning of each semester.  Candidates are encouraged to meet multiple chapters and individuals in our community during this period of IFC structured recruitment.

Structured recruitment events will take place in the upcoming fall semester from August 22-September 2, 2022 with events on campus and at chapter houses.

Following this period of structured recruitment, chapters begin extending bids (offering individuals a formal chance to accept an offer to join their organization). However, many chapters will continue over the next few weeks to host individual chapter recruitment events in order to meet more candidates. Candidates are encouraged to attend these individual chapter events to find a chapter within which they find the same values as they hold and fraternity men they share a bond with.

Do you consider yourself a SCHOLAR?

Akron fraternities consistently out-perform the All-Men’s average of non-fraternity students at The University of Akron.

Do you want LEADERSHIP experience in college?
Fraternity men are elected to officer positions within their chapters and to the Interfraternity Council (the student-run governing body overseeing fraternities), and attend regional and national leadership conferences.

Is it important to you to give back to your community by doing SERVICE work?
Akron’s IFC fraternities devoted nearly 6,000 hours of community service last year and donated over $70,000 for philanthropic organizations!

Do you hope to have the opportunity to NETWORK with other professionals while at The University of Akron?
In a 2018 survey, UA fraternity men felt their fraternity experience enhanced their ability to establish networking relationships because of the Greek community with over 800 men and women already involved on campus. Not to mention area alumni mentoring undergraduates while leading our chapters.

If you are committed to scholarship and want to use your leadership abilities in service to others, then join us during fraternity recruitment so that you can build your own network with other campus leaders and area alumni.

Feel free to join us for one of these open events and look for our Interfraternity Council team. Introduce yourself and ask questions. We hope to meet you soon!
