David Williams, a graduate student in geology, earned second place in the Best Student Poster Presentation at the November 2025 Water Management Association of Ohio (WMAO) conference in Dublin, Ohio. His poster, based on his thesis research, was titled “The Response of the Lake Erie Sheldon Marsh Barrier Spit to Changing Lake Level and Storm Frequency.”

The Water Management Association of Ohio is the state’s only organization dedicated to all of Ohio’s water resources. WMAO serves as a professional community for those who manage and safeguard water across the state by providing essential information, education, and networking opportunities.

Opportunities like this are critical to graduate student success. Presenting research at professional conferences allows students to build industry connections, gain feedback from experts in the field, and strengthen their CVs, all of which are key factors in securing competitive positions after graduation.
