The University of Akron College of Business will host Fulbright Connect: Scholarship, History, and Community at the University of Akron on Saturday, April 25, bringing together Fulbright scholars, alumni and friends of the Fulbright program for an afternoon of connection and conversation.

Organized by Dr. Sydney Chinchanachokchai, associate professor of marketing at The University of Akron, 2023-2024 Fulbright alumna (Portugal), and current board member of the Fulbright Association Northeast Ohio Chapter, the event highlights UA’s ongoing commitment to global engagement and international scholarship.

“My Fulbright experience in Portugal transformed the way I think about global marketing. It gave me a new perspective on cross-cultural consumer research and sharpened my classroom strategies," said Chinchanachokchai. "This experience enhances my ability to better prepare the University of Akron business students to compete and lead in an interconnected world.”

Held at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology, participants will enjoy a guided tour of one of the world’s premier psychology museums while engaging with fellow Fulbrighters to reflect on the impact of international education, research and cultural exchange.

“Global engagement is a cornerstone of our mission and a vital part of how we prepare students and faculty to lead in an increasingly interconnected world,” said Dr. Terry Daugherty, dean of the College of Business. “Events like Fulbright Connect celebrate the power of international scholarship and reinforce our commitment to fostering meaningful global partnerships and perspectives.”

The Fulbright Connect event underscores the University of Akron’s role as a hub for international collaboration and thought leadership, providing opportunities for scholars and community members to share experiences, strengthen connections and advance the values of cross-cultural understanding.
