Pramash Tamang, a senior pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Management at The University of Akron, has been selected as the recipient of the Dr. James W. Dunlap Endowed Scholarship.

A dedicated student leader within the College of Business, Pramash serves as president of the Financial Management Association (FMA), Asian Business Student Association (ABSA) and Investment Banking Club. Through these leadership roles, he has helped create opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with real-world professional experiences and explore careers in finance. He also serves as vice president of Beta Gamma Sigma and is an active member of the Investment Club.

"Receiving the Dr. James W. Dunlap Endowed Scholarship is an incredible honor,” said Pramash. “I’m extremely grateful for the support. Learning about Dean Dunlap’s dedication to students and student organizations makes this scholarship especially meaningful to me. This support will allow me to focus on making the most of my final year at UA, both academically and through the student organizations that have shaped my college experience."

Through his involvement in FMA and the College of Business, Pramash exemplifies the leadership and engagement that the Dunlap Scholarship was established to recognize. His experience as a financial management student and student organization leader reflects the lasting impact that opportunities outside the classroom can have on a student’s academic and professional journey.

Dr. James W. Dunlap was a respected educator, honored scholar, and cherished friend to many of the students he served and to those with whom he worked. Dr. Dunlap served as Dean of the College of Business from 1970 to 1989. His popularity with students was so great that he became affectionately known as “The Student’s Dean.” His support of student activities accelerated the college’s growth and student development. The Dr. James W. Dunlap endowed scholarship fund was established by individuals to show their deep appreciation for his leadership and the value they placed on his friendship both during his tenure as Dean and after his retirement.

The Dunlap scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior enrolled in the College of Business who shows strong participation in College of Business student organizations and who maintains a minimum 3.0 grade point average with at least one semester on the Dean’s List.
