OPERA LYRIC THEATRE

The UA Opera Lyric Theatre Workshop offers a variety of performance opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Music. Each year the opera theater produces a selection of opera scenes (fall semester), and a fully staged opera or operetta (spring semester). Shows are often double cast, giving many students the experience of learning a complete operatic role.

In addition, each spring students get to hone their performance skills by performing for area elementary schools in conjunction with the Children Concert Society mini tours. Dr. Frank Ward is the director of Opera Lyric Theater.

Past performances include La Canterina, The Impresario, Hansel and Gretel, The Medium, Cox and Box, Albert Herring, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Le nozze di Figaro, The Old Maid and the Thief, Gianni Schicchi, Trial by Jury, West Side Story, Street Scene, Sweeney Todd, and Brigadoon.
