How do I schedule and pay for WorkKeys?
Contact the Counseling & Testing Center at 330-972-7084 to schedule an appointment. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Payment is due before testing, by exact cash, check to the “University of Akron,” or credit. Testing staff will register candidates for the exams at time of appointment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Candidates should bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. The name on the ID must match the name used to register for the exam. If you have an existing WorkKeys account, be sure to bring your user account information to log-in. If you do not have an account, testing staff will register candidates and assign exams at scheduled appointment. Also bring payment in form of exact cash, check, or credit card. All other items permitted during testing will be provided by test center. Lockers are provided for all personal belongings not permitted in the testing room.
Can the exam fees be refunded or transferred to another examinee?
Once the exam is assigned to a candidate, it cannot be transferred or refunded. Once the exam is authorized to start (when candidate is in testing room), it cannot be rescheduled.
How often can I retake the exams?
WorkKeys exams can be retaken immediately, until all alternate forms of that exam have been administered. After that, candidates must wait 30 days to retake the exam. It is recommended that candidates take time to study before retesting.
Individual Score Reports are available immediately and will be printed by testing staff. For additional types of reports, candidates can log-in to their profile within 24 hours. Candidates can also download the National Career Readiness Certificate from profile once completed.
How do I earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)?
Candidates can register at myworkkeys.com for the NCRC account. To earn the NCRC, candidates need to earn at least Level 3 (Bronze) in Applied Mathematics, Graphic Literacy, and WorkPlace Documents. The NCRC is downloadable from the candidate’s WorkKeys account at no additional charge.
What should I do if I require testing accommodations for a disability?
Candidates needing testing accommodations should submit documentation of disability to the testing coordinator, Dr. Sara Rieder Bennett (slr45@uakron.edu) before scheduling appointment. All documentation is reviewed in accordance with ACT Test Administration Manual, and may be done in consultation with the Office of Accessibility at the University of Akron. Testing accommodations may include extended time, word-to-word translation dictionary for foreign languages, reader and/or scribe, and others as appropriate.
