Your journey into nursing begins with orientation after all prerequisites have been met. This is typically offered in June between the first and second year of college.
Orientation provides important information about program expectations, clinical requirements, technology, and student success resources. During this process, you'll also complete the steps required before beginning clinical experiences.
At orientation, you'll:
- Complete your background check and compliance requirements
- Learn about clinical placement expectations Order your School of Nursing uniform and required supplies
- Review program policies and important deadlines
- Meet faculty, staff, and fellow nursing students
- Prepare for your first semester of skills lab and clinicals
You don't have to navigate nursing school alone.
Our advisors and Student Success Center are here to help you develop an academic plan, register for classes, understand degree requirements, and connect you with campus resources whenever you need additional support.

The School of Nursing Student Handbooks contain the policies, expectations, progression requirements, clinical information, and academic standards that guide your education.
Students are responsible for reviewing and following the handbook associated with their program.

Health care is a team effort.
Throughout your program, you'll learn alongside students from other health professions through interprofessional education (IPE) experiences. These collaborative learning opportunities prepare you to communicate effectively, understand the roles of other health care professionals, and deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
Working together today prepares you to lead tomorrow's health care teams.
