CARES Emergency Assistance Grant's impact statements

Hear how the CARES Emergency Assistance Grant was needed by our students

"I once had 4 jobs and now i have zero. The money i was saving up for would go towards grad school but now i don’t think i could afford it. I mainly ate at robs because of working so much and now i can’t buy groceries."

"Due to the pandemic, I lost my job for the summer and had to pay for summer classes with the money I was going to use for food and housing. Had to pay extra for internet to consistently attend online classes. I would use these funds to pay for housing, food, lab materials for summer classes, the internet bill, and car insurance."

"I have a 7 month old son and my job currently is reducing hours for all employees. I have my rent, car payment, insurance, phone, electric, food and formula that I have to acquire each month and my son’s mother and I are no longer together. It would give me a little more peace of mind in a time like this where money is harder to come by than it normally would be."

"Finishing the spring 2020 semester and now taking a class during the summer session has been a challenge. Unfortunately I was unable to find a job this summer with everything being shut down, so I took the opportunity to take a class for the summer. I would use these funds to regain some of the financial loss that went into purchasing some necessary tools to finish these online learning courses. I purchased a printer, web camera and headphone set to be able to fully participate in my online courses. I also would like to get back some of the money spent on vehicle fuel used for the two trips it took to get my belongings home from my residence hall. Finally my hope is that the money will help offset the tuition cost of my summer class. I will be grateful for any money received from the cares act."

"Due to Covid-19 I have lost my job and as of 6/16/2020 I still do not have a return date. I filed for unemployment, but I have not been paid in weeks. I am responsible for many of my family’s monthly household bills, our insurance, our car payment and several other commitments. I am very nervous I will not be able to afford the full tuition for school this upcoming semester on top of supplying my text books that each cost around $100. This grant could really help take a burden off my back and give me a little more comfort knowing I could afford my books. Thank you kindly for considering me."
