A Tradition of Excellence
The Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1870 by Akron industrialist John Buchtel, and nurtured into a world-class university by generations of hard working Northeast Ohio residents.
We invite you to stay connected with your college by attending an event, supporting one of our many programs, following us on Facebook and keeping us up to date on your successes.
Supporting the College
The generosity of donors allows the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences to educate students and transform the region. Gifts allow the college to actively pursue its mission to educate the next generation of leaders by providing scholarships, supporting endowments and supporting faculty research.
University of Akron alumni and brothers Steve and Jerry Panzner donated over 100 acres of wetland, known as the Panzner Wetland Wildlife Reserve (PWWR) in Copley Township to UA. This "living laboratory" is a place where UA students in integrated bioscience, biology, chemistry and other disciplines can study.
