HOW TO APPLY
Traditional and Online
- Click here to apply to The University of Akron’s Graduate School and follow the online application instructions.
- During the online application process for the Master of Social Work program:
- Upload a copy of your resume;
- Identify sources for three professional recommendations; and
- Submit a short essay addressing the questions provided on the application.
- To complete the online application:
- Submit official transcripts (for all coursework since high school)
- Pay the application fee.

When does the admission process begin?
- Jan. 2, 2024: Application to the 2024 Traditional full-time, part-time and Advanced Standing MSW Program begins.
- Feb. 1, 2024: Review of the applications for Advanced Standing, full-time, and part-time will begin.
What is the admission deadline?
- Feb. 15, 2024: Priority admissions for Advanced Standing, full-time, and part-time
- March 31, 2024: Deadline for applications to the Advanced Standing program
- May 31, 2024: Deadline for applications to both the full-time and part-time programs
When do classes begin?
- Advanced Standing evening program: Summer 2024
- Full-time & part-time programs: Fall 2024
