Professional & Academic Experience

Michael A. Discenza is the vice president and controller of The Timken Company. Named to this position in 2015, he is responsible for providing financial leadership and problem-solving to support the decision needs of the company’s two business segments while driving profitable growth and return on invested capital. Mike joined Timken in 2000, and has served in various finance and accounting positions, including controller of MPB, operations controller, and director of accounting and financial planning and analysis. Prior to joining Timken Mike served as a financial analyst with several companies after starting his career as a computer programmer/analyst.

Mike graduated from the University of Akron in 1993 with his bachelor’s in Economics and completed his master’s degree in economics in 1994, also from The University of Akron. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and is a Certified Management Accountant. He also is a graduate of the 25th signature class of Leadership Stark County and the Timken Leadership Development Program (2013).

Mike is married to his wife Gina, they have three children and reside in Jackson Township, Ohio. Discenza serves on the board of JRC in Canton, OH and of North Coast Community Homes in Cleveland, OH where he holds the position of Treasurer.
