High-quality professional photographs are essential for any LinkedIn profile and can also be valuable additions to websites, portfolios, conference presentations and other professional materials. However, finding the time and resources to have them taken can often be a challenge. That’s why the Co-op and Placement Program is proud to offer a free self-service headshot booth available to all faculty, staff and students!
Drop by The Center: Room 134D in the Auburn Science and Engineering Center (ASEC)
Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Get Your Perfect Headshot: Steps, Tips & Rules
- Either scan the QR code shown or use the touch screen functionality of the booth
- Follow the on-screen tutorial for photo tips
- You can take up to three photos in one session
- (Optional) You can retake one photo and make basic photo edits
- Check your email to view, edit or download your photos
- Photos will be available to download in your account for one year
- After your session, you’ll get an email from noreply@irisbooth.com within 2-3 minutes after completing your session
- Open the email and click “Get Photos” to set up an Iris account
- Sign up with the same email you used at the booth and create a unique password
- Log in with your new password to view, download and edit your photos
- Photos will be available to download in your account for one year
- Editing tools include:
- Crop & re-center
- Teeth whitening (desktop/laptop only)
- Blemish correction (desktop/laptop only)
- Lighting correction
- Filters (the “Prime” filter is a popular professional choice)
- Once finished, you can download or email your photos
Dress in business professional or business casual attire, at least from the waist up, when taking your photo. Keep in mind the purpose of the photo and the type of opportunities you plan to pursue.
Tips for choosing your look:
- Solid colors and darker neutrals are most flattering
- Avoid white so you don’t blend into the background
- Avoid busy patterns; if you wear a patterned shirt or tie, balance it with a solid jacket or sweater
- Choose accessories carefully so they don’t distract from your face
- Match your outfit to the dress standards of the industry you’re targeting
The Headshot Booth is reserved for professional use only. Photos must not include inappropriate gestures, props or nudity. The Co-op and Placement Program may periodically review photos for compliance, and violations may result in your Handshake account being blocked and a referral to The University of Akron Student Conduct.
