7:45 a.m. Wake-up and login to class

I get dressed and log in to my senior seminar course with Professor Carpenter on WebEx. I crack open my Bang energy drink that is going to carry me through the day. We proceed to discuss expectations for the course and how the semester should play out.

9:25 a.m. Break time

Class ends and I have enough time to do some yard work before I head to work for a half day. Every step I take my legs remind me of the desert heat and miles earned from a recent trip to Moab. I come inside and clean up before I hit the road.

11:30 a.m. Private concert during my commute

It takes me about an hour to drive to work, so I sing during on the way. Hopefully I don’t get too many funny looks, haha.

12:30 p.m. Arrive at work

I say hi to everyone and catch up on what I missed this morning. Everyone seems to be curious about how online class is going to go this semester. I stay optimistic, because I am only two classes away from graduation. I walk over to our fabrication shop next door and see how the gearbox adapter I designed is progressing. I answer a few questions and head back to the office to continue working on the next project.

1:30 p.m. Consult with engineering colleague

I talk with our mechanical engineer to see what I can help him with to continue pushing forward to meet our deadline on the next project. I check over that materials that have been ordered to make sure what we have is correct and we have enough to continue fabrication on to the second phase of the project.

3 p.m. Meeting with operations coordinator

We talked through the best time to go out in the field and install the gearbox and adapter on the machine we were working on. During this meeting we discussed what my role will while the mechanical engineering team leader is out of the office. I have to be able to handle his duties and answer any questions that may come up.

4:30 p.m. Site visit

I leave work and head over to our new building that we are renovating. This project has been a lot of fun, this summer I was able to operate a mini excavator with a jack hammer to remove a second level floor, we had to do this in order to make the building useable for an engineering/fabrication company. This project has taught everyone what we can do if we put our minds to something and break issues down into basic forces.

6 p.m. Work day ends

After checking out the progress on the new building I head home, I finish the day off by grabbing dinner and working a little bit on my mountain bike to prepare for my next adventure. I end up going to sleep around midnight. I need to be at work at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
