Overview
The Middle Level Education, BS prepares you to teach grades 4–9 in two subject areas of your choice—language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies. Through coursework and hands-on field experiences, you'll learn how to engage young adolescents, manage classrooms effectively, and design instruction that supports diverse learners. Graduates are eligible to apply for an Ohio teaching license in middle childhood education.

Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Middle Level Education program are licensed to teach in grades 4 through 9 in two selected content areas. You’ll be prepared for roles such as:
Middle school language arts, math, science, or social studies teacher
Instructional support teacher
Curriculum or literacy coach
You’ll be prepared to teach in public, private, and charter schools and to pursue advanced study in areas such as curriculum design, special education, or educational leadership. Students have the opportunity to become a certified Structured Literacy Specialist by completing the practicum and passing the KPEERI exam.
