Ransom and Mugler

Dr. Lakeesha Ransom has been named dean of the Honors College and brings to the position 20 years of leadership experience in educational, governmental, non-profit and corporate entities. More about Dr. Ransom.

Following 15 years at the helm as inaugural dean of the Honors College, Dale Mugler, who also is a professor of biomedical engineering and applied mathematics at UA, retired as dean on June 30 – but will continue to teach at the University. Continue reading online.

Akron Law

The University of Akron School of Law made the Above the Law Top 50 Law School rankings.

UA Law is the only law school in Northeast Ohio and one of only two in Ohio — the other, Ohio State University — included at the top of the ATL rankings.

What’s more, Akron Law is top in the state of Ohio for first-time bar passage.

UA and DANCECleveland announced they will launch a new center for choreography — only the second in the nation — where the country’s finest dance professionals will create new work.

The new Corps of Cadets – the only one of its kind in Ohio – will complement UA’s existing ROTC program, and the Leadership Academy will include programs and academic courses from the ROTC Leadership Series and the Institute for Leadership Advancement in the College of Business Administration. Both initiatives also include new scholarship opportunities.

Pole vaulter Shawn Barber cleared 18-4.50 (5.60m) at the Canadian Track and Field Championships on Sunday, July 5, to garner his third consecutive national title.

The win helped secure his position as 2015 Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year, as ranked by Track and Field News.
